Have you ever thought about those men who buried Lazarus? those who were there in his sickness, his suffering, his death, when his sisters mourned and wept!
When Jesus spoke his word, and him whom they buried came walking out of his grave. I wonder what they said after being live witnesses of such an amazing miracle?! (Story of John 11)
We who have buried the dead
We who have rolled the stone
Were there in his sickness
And have shared his pain
Our dear brother Lazarus
Has rested in peace.
We who have buried the dead
We who have rolled the stone
Have seen the tears
Oh Mary and Martha
If only our words
Could bring your hearts some relief
We who have buried the dead
We who have rolled the stone
Filled with compassion
We've seen him cry
The king of kings
Wept over his beloved!
We who have buried the dead
We who have rolled the stone
Suddenly have heard
A voice from behind
Strong as the wind,
Authorized as of God
A voice
Which shook the grave
Stripping death off its thorns
Bringing a breath back into a dead man's lungs!
We who have buried the dead
We who have rolled the stone
Have seen with our own eyes
A figure covered all in white
Walking out of a dark cold room
We who have buried the dead
We who have rolled the stone
We who have smelled the stinkiness coming out of that grave
Now believe and are sure
That no tomb can hold
The bodies of saints
who believe in his name,
Whose hopes are found in him!
Death stood there in silence,
The grave
With it's large unending appetite
Was put to shame!
For the king of kings has spoken
And a word from him was enough
To awaken the sleeper
And revive his dry bones back to life!
Yes, we who have buried the dead
Have rolled the stone twice
The first was to burry a body,
To write a sad ending to a painful story
The second was based on a strange command
which none could understand,
That made us marvel in awe of a much glorious one!
We who have buried the dead
We who have rolled the stone
Speak of what we know
Tell of what we've seen
And need no more proof
That Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Is indeed
The Son of the living God!
