Wake You Up

"And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?! And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?!" (Mark 4: 37-41)

Let my faith wake you up, not my fears!

Let my faith wake you up, not my trembling heart!

Let my faith wake you up, not my insecurities and doubts.

Hide not thy truth from me

Remind me of him who sleepeth in my ship

Remind me of his power

Remind me of his might

Remind me of his love

He who woke up at once on hearing the shaky voices of his children crying unto him Lord save us!

He who created the ear, does he not hear?

He who created the eye does he not see?

Oh Lord may my faith wake you up,

To approach you in confidence, surrender and full trust.

Open the eyes of my heart to see reality the way you see it. Teach me to view it through the lens of your heart so I may lay down my fears and rest in your presence.

Create in me

Eyes which see the dead as only sleeping,

Eyes which see the disease as only a tool, a bridge to draw my heart closer to yours,

Eyes which see a body made whole just by a touch of the almighty like the bleeding woman.

Eyes which see the promise of God coming to pass beforehand like Hanna.

Eyes which see the mountain filled with troops and chariots of fire ready to fight, like Elisha

Eyes which see God's deliverance from all danger like Paul.

Eyes which see thy beautiful face and the heavens open like your beloved Steven before he was stoned.

Yes the eyes of Faith!

Which see a much greater reality!

The eyes of faith which can boldly declare-

They that be with us are more than they that be with them!

Though the storm rages, the waves and violent wind hit our ship from every side, the Lord is in our midst, a word from him can silence the raging sea and carry his children to safety!

So at the last hour of the night

When all hopes are lost

And every power consumed

Do keep my eyes above the waters

I wanna soar beyond what is seen, touched, and felt.

Lift up my eyes so I may lay down beside you in the ship, being certain of the fact that him who sleepeth cares for me!

He keeps me as the apple of his eye,

Under the shadow of his wings I am secure!
